The Sweet Vale of Avoca Museum is now in the off-season
and will return to the regular schedule Memorial Day 2025.
During the off-season, we will be open the
third Sunday of each month from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Our next open Sunday will be October 20, 2024,
or you can call to set up a special appointment.
Newtown/Avoca Historical Society
November meeting will be Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

We have some great old photographs at the Museum we would love to show you. Here's an example -- although we don't have a date for it. Just imagine working the fields in this manner. This was identified on the back of the photo as Willie HInz disking with a four-horse hitch. I wonder if this is Peter William "Willie" Hinz who was born in 1873, married Caroline Wasser in 1899, and died in 1953 with burial in Graceland Cemetery in Avoca?
